Upskilling and Learning Journeys with PathPilot

Introduction

PathPilot is designed to help you improve your career by helping you understand skill gaps and suggesting resources for Skill Development. This guide details how to use PathPilot’s Upskilling function to discover areas for growth, along with recommended courses and resources.

Methods for Upskilling

Method 1:  Using Prompts for Upskilling Suggestions

1. Navigate to Main Screen:
   • From the main screen of the PathPilot interface, locate the "Upskilling" option in the bottom left.

2. Select a Prompt:

   • You will be presented with the following prompt options:

     • “Give me some upskilling suggestions based on my resume and job preferences”

     • “Give me some upskilling suggestions based on one of my saved jobs”

     • “Give me some upskilling suggestions based on a specific job / role I’m interested in.”

   • Select the prompt most relevant to your goals.

3. Review Recommendations:

   • PathPilot will analyze your prompt and respond with resources for both hard and soft skills development. This list can include relevant courses, and other learning resources.

Method 2: Natural Language Upskilling Queries

1. Navigate to Main Screen:
   • From the main PathPilot interface, use the chat input box, located at the bottom of the screen.

2. Type a Question:

   • Type in any upskilling-related question into the chat field using natural language

   • For example:  “I am interested in mindfulness, what are the top podcasts for mindfulness?"

3. Review the Results:

   • PathPilot will then respond with both resources directly related to the question asked, as well as suggested areas of learning that were pulled from your profile and resume.

• Resource Libraries: PathPilot connects you to a wealth of learning resources, including an internal database of courses, as well as external courses.
• Tailored Guidance:  Recommendations are curated based on your resume, job preferences, saved jobs, or specified keywords.

• Hard and Soft Skills: PathPilot recommends resources for developing hard skills as well as soft skills.

• Personalized Folders: Save any specific resource links into customized folders that you create.

• Side Navigation: Allows you to access “Chat History”, “Saved Jobs”, “Saved Resources”, “Saved Resumes”, “Saved Cover Letters” and “Saved Interviews”

Tips for Effective Skill Development

• Explore All Options: Try a variety of options, including natural language, and the suggested prompts.

• Experiment With Search Terms: Try different phrasings to help you discover more resources.

• Don’t Be Afraid To Save: Be sure to save any useful links and courses into your custom folders within the tool.

• Ask for Free Resources: If you specifically ask for free resources, PathPilot will find you free resources to upgrade your skills, both from our 350,000 plus courses as well as other resources on the web.
