Introduction


PathPilot can help you quickly create compelling cover letters. This guide covers how to use the tool to generate cover letters based on your skills, experience, and target job preferences.



Methods for Cover Letter Creation


Method 1: Creating a Cover Letter from Job Matches

  1. Access Job Details:
    • Start by finding your ideal role using “Job Matching” or through the saved jobs list, (see corresponding help article).
  2. Initiate Cover Letter Generation:
    • Select the job for which you wish to generate a cover letter and navigate to the job detail page.

    • Select “Create a cover letter for this job” from the "Suggested Actions" section.

  3. Review the Generated Letter:

    • PathPilot uses the details in your profile, resume, and the job listing to create a draft cover letter.

  4. Edit and Save:

    • You can edit the generated letter by clicking on the “edit” button at the top.

    • Make any necessary changes, and use the save icon to store the document in your “Saved Cover Letters” folder.


Method 2:  Creating a Cover Letter from Saved Jobs

  1. Access Saved Jobs:
    • Navigate to the main PathPilot menu and select "Saved Jobs" on the sidebar.
  2. Initiate Cover Letter Generation:

    • Click through to view the job you want to generate a cover letter for.

    • Click the “Create a cover letter for this job” button.

  3. Review the Generated Letter:

    • PathPilot will generate a cover letter based on the job information and your profile.

  4. Edit and Save:

    • You can edit the generated letter by clicking on the “edit” button at the top.

    • Make any necessary changes, and use the save icon to store the document in your “Saved Cover Letters” folder.


Method 3: General Cover Letters from a Prompt

  1. Navigate to the Main Screen:
    • From the main screen of the PathPilot interface, locate the “Cover Letter” function in the top right and select it.
  2. Select a Cover Letter Type:

    • You can generate a cover letter using a prompt in three ways:

      • "Create a general cover letter based on my skills and experience"

      • "Create a cover letter for one of my saved jobs"

      • “Create a cover letter for a specific role or position that I’m interested in”

    • Select the desired prompt. You can either select a suggested option or type in a custom request.

  3. Review and Customize the Letter:

    • PathPilot will generate a cover letter based on your preferences and the parameters provided.

  4. Edit and Save:

    • You can edit the generated letter by clicking on the “edit” button at the top.

    • Make any necessary changes, and use the save icon to store the document in your “Saved Cover Letters” folder.
